This Fourth of July, bring yourself, your family and friends and join thousands of happy kids and adults for free games, free watermelon, and of course free fireworks at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in the heart of Historic Downtown Brunswick.

The festivities start at 7:00 p.m. and feature organized and supervised classic games like sack races, tug-of-wars, horseshoes, various ball games, hula-hoop contests and more. Players compete for prizes of delicious whole South Georgia watermelons. Can't win or just don't want to play but you still have a taste for watermelon? Free slices are handed out all evening, compliments of the City of Brunswick.

The fireworks over the waters of the East River and Oglethorpe Bay start about 9:00 p.m. and last 30 minutes. A great,

fun, family event that's sponsored each year by The City of Brunswick, Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association, and the Downtown Development Authority.

Our Lady of Fatima

An annual tradition each Mother's Day Sunday, this beautiful Old World processional through Historic Hanover Square was started by the Portuguese community in 1938 to commemorate the first appearance of The Blessed Virgin to three children near the town of Fatima, Portugal on May 13, 1917. Hand-carved Brazilian Oak statue, with a crown of gold and precious stones, identical to the statue in Fatima, is placed on a carved wooden shoulder carrier and decorated with flowers. Parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Church process singing through the park. The Processional begins promptly at 12:00 noon and lasts about thirty minutes.

First Fridays

Join the community on Newcastle Street from 5 - 8pm on the First Friday of each month. Take a stroll through our beautiful downtown district and enjoy all the galleries, shops, and businesses that will be open late serving wine & snacks, with live music in our Signature Squares.

The Brunswick Christmas Parade

This annual community parade takes place on the first Saturday in December. This year's parade will be a night-time parade. Starting at 5:30 p.m. at Howard Coffin Park, over 100 floats, vehicles, walking groups and marching band units make their way one mile down the length of Gloucester Street to Mary Ross Waterfront Park in the heart of the Old Town National Register Historic District.

Santa Claus also makes an appearance at the end of the parade and distributes free bags of candy afterwards at Mary Ross Park. Santa is joined at the park by arts and crafts vendors offering hand-made holiday gifts for sale and by the farmers offering fresh fruit and produce at the Brunswick Farmers Market.

For information on entering a float, vehicle, walking or marching unit in the parade, please contact the Downtown Development Authority at 912-265-4032 or download the parade application: 2016 Christmas Parade Application
